The Lord Mayor is the head of the City of London Corporation, which provides local government services for the financial and commercial heart of Britain, the ‘Square Mile’. As part of his responsibilities, the Lord Mayor oversaw the annual Dragon Awards scheme which recognised businesses and community organisations that went above and beyond their core work to significantly impact the regeneration of their local communities.
About the Awards
Since 1987, the Lord Mayor’s Dragon Awards have been influential in highlighting the pioneering work of businesses to make long-term, positive impact in society.

More on the Awards
Since they were founded in 1987, the Awards have celebrated over 500 businesses that have achieved meaningful, innovative, impact for people and communities.
Collectively, responsible businesses which have applied to the Dragon Awards have helped over 11.5 million people, mobilising 248,000 business volunteers and giving £285 million in donations and in-kind support to London’s communities.
The Awards have driven responsible business to be the expectation, not the exception, through initiatives that have catalysed social mobility; generated inclusive employment practices; boosted social impact through partnerships and pro-bono consultancy; and assembled resources and expertise for communities who have faced social disadvantage.
Each year, Dragon Award finalists were invited to attend the Awards Ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor at Mansion House, not only to celebrate the most pioneering initiatives but to share experiences and innovative practices in responsible business.
Our Judging Panel
Our Judging Panels consisted of the Preliminary Judging Panel made up of responsible business professionals and our Final Judging Panel, chaired by the Lord Mayor which consisted of senior business leaders from a range of sectors.
